Heating People

Underfloor heating installation enquiries.

Underfloor heating works best when it is planned with the floor, the heat source and the controls together. Tell us the rooms, the floor type and what is changing, and Heating People reviews the enquiry and arranges a survey.

What this covers

Warm-water underfloor heating fitted to a gas boiler or another heat source, usually for a renovation, extension, new floor or ground-floor rooms where floors are being lifted. It is planned room by room:

  • The floor build-up and floor covering, which affect how well the heat reaches the room.
  • The height available, particularly where floors cannot be raised.
  • A manifold, pipework and controls for each zone, and how it connects to the existing system.
  • Whether the boiler or other heat source suits a lower flow temperature.

Electric underfloor heating is reviewed individually, because the electrical work is carried out by a suitably qualified person.

Questions we ask first

  • Which rooms, and which floor level?
  • What is the floor now, and what is the finished covering to be?
  • Are the floors being lifted anyway, or must the work fit above them?
  • What heats the property today, and is the boiler being replaced?

The answers decide whether underfloor heating is practical and what a survey needs to check. We do not promise energy savings or a running cost from a web page.

What to have ready

  • The full postcode, and the rooms and approximate sizes.
  • Photos of the floor, the boiler and the existing pipework, and any plans or drawings you have.
  • Whether an architect, builder or other trade is involved and when the floors will be open.
  • Do not lift floors or touch pipework to take photos.
