Air source heat pump installation enquiries.

Considering an air source heat pump instead of a new gas boiler? Whether one suits your home depends on the property, the radiators and pipework, the hot water arrangement and the space outside. Send the details and Heating People reviews the enquiry and arranges a survey.

What this covers

Replacing a gas boiler with an air source heat pump, or adding one to an existing wet central heating system. A heat pump job often involves more than the heat pump itself:

  • A heat-loss assessment of the property, to size the heat pump and check the radiators.
  • Radiator, pipework or hot water cylinder changes, where the existing ones are not suitable.
  • A position outside for the heat pump, with clearance, access and any planning or noise considerations.
  • Electrical supply and controls, carried out by a suitably qualified person.

It is assessed at a survey. It is not offered as an online booking and no price can be given from a web page.

Grants and who does the work

Some homes in England and Wales can claim a government grant towards a heat pump through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Eligibility, the amount and the installer requirements are set by the scheme, so check the Ofgem Boiler Upgrade Scheme pages for property owners before you decide. Heating People does not promise that a grant will apply to your property.

Heat pump installations are carried out by installer partners. Ask for the installer’s certification details and check them against the scheme’s requirements if a grant is part of your plan. Where a heat pump is not the right answer, we say so and can look at a new boiler or a wider heating upgrade instead.

What to have ready

  • The full postcode, and whether the property is a house, flat or rented, and who owns it.
  • Photos of the current boiler and its data label, any hot water cylinder, a typical radiator, and the outside wall or garden area where a unit could go.
  • The number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and whether you plan an extension or insulation work.
  • Do not remove casings, enter a loft you cannot reach safely or touch any gas or electrical fitting to take photos.

Next step and who you contract with

Send the details through the request form or the free quote route.

Your written quotation names the installer, who your contract is with, and your warranty and workmanship guarantee. Heating People reviews the survey findings and the price with you before you agree.
