First-time cooker installation & relocation.
Fitting a cooker, hob or oven for the first time, or moving one to a new position, usually needs an assessment. Send the full postcode and photos and Heating People reviews the work before confirming a price.

What this covers
Installing a gas or electric cooker, hob or oven for the first time, moving an appliance to a different position, or fitting one where the existing connection is unsuitable. These jobs can involve new pipework or electrical circuits, so they are not offered as an online fixed-price booking. Use the request form so the scope can be reviewed first. First-time and relocated electric cooker installations are arranged through a subcontractor where possible.
Installation is quoted separately from repairs, servicing and appliance supply. For a fault on an existing appliance, see our gas cooker safety guidance or ask us about a repair.
Why it needs an assessment
The right solution depends on where the gas supply is, the route a pipe could take, the kitchen layout, ventilation and the appliance itself. New pipework is priced separately after we have seen photos or visited. See gas pipe installation. Some jobs may be outside our standard scope, including LPG and unusual appliances, and we tell you if so.
What to have ready
- The postcode and who will be at the property.
- Where you want the appliance and where the nearest gas supply, meter, existing gas point or cooker connection is.
- Photos of the kitchen, the intended position and any existing gas point or capped pipe, taken from a normal standing position.
- The make and model of the appliance, if you have chosen one.
- Photos only: do not move units, cut into walls or disturb any gas fitting to take them.
Replacing like for like?
If you are replacing an appliance in the same position on an existing gas connection, a standard replacement may be simpler. See gas cooker, hob and oven installation, electric cooker installation, gas hob installation or built-in gas oven installation.
Next step, access and payment
Send the details through the request form. We review the scope, then confirm the price and arrange an invoice or quote for advance payment. Heating People operates from Leyton. Send the full postcode, an occupier access contact and the person who authorises and pays. The job, location, availability and price are reviewed before a quote or invoice is issued for advance payment. Once you have paid, your booking is confirmed. A two-hour arrival window can be confirmed on the day. Where required, parking is £10 per hour; key collection is £15, or £30 for collection and return. Explain these arrangements before the price is confirmed.
