A direct cylinder is heated by electric immersion heaters – usually two, so there is a backup. It suits homes without a gas boiler, such as many flats with electric heating.

Priced at your free survey
The prices above are for replacing an unvented cylinder like for like. If your home needs extra work, it is priced at your free survey before you agree to anything, for example:
- Converting from a loft-tank (vented) cylinder: removing the tank and changing the pipework
- A new discharge pipe to the outside
- Moving the cylinder to a new position
- Upgrading the cold water main if the pressure or flow is too low
