How to compare boiler installation quotes

Use the same specification to compare prices, responsibilities and aftercare before accepting an installation quote.

Boiler and system specification

  • Exact boiler make, model, output and type.
  • Why it suits the assessed heating demand and hot water requirements.
  • Existing or replacement cylinder, tanks and controls where applicable.
  • Flue route, condensate arrangements and any gas-pipework changes.

What work is included?

  • Removal of the old boiler and any agreed waste disposal.
  • Cleaning method, treatment, filter and controls specified for this installation.
  • Electrical work, access equipment, roof work and making good, where required.
  • Commissioning, Benchmark and applicable Building Regulations documentation.
  • Access, parking and other charges, plus the process for agreeing unforeseen work.

Price, contract and cover

Check the total payable, payment stages, quote validity and how variations are authorised. Confirm the business contracting with you and issuing the installation invoice. Manufacturer warranty and installation workmanship cover are different: check the provider, term, conditions, registration responsibility and claims contact for each.

Where Heating People introduces a partner installer who contracts and invoices directly, the partner’s installation quote and written terms define that work. Read them before acceptance.

Photos that help an assessment

Where safe, provide clear photos of the boiler front and model label, the visible connections, flue location, heating controls and any cylinder. Include the full postcode and access restrictions. Do not remove covers, climb to inspect a flue, move heavy appliances or disturb fittings to obtain photos.

Questions to ask before accepting

  • What information still needs verification before this price is confirmed?
  • What could change the price, and who must approve a variation?
  • What installation duration and interruption should I plan for?
  • Who provides the installation documents and registers manufacturer cover?
  • Who should I contact about a workmanship issue or missing paperwork?
